The State of North Carolina requires the Stanly County Health Department
to prepare and submit Community Health Assessment and State of the
County Health (SOTCH) reports. The purpose of these reports is to inform
the community and stakeholders about the health status of Stanly County
residents.
A Community Health Assessment is conducted every
four years where county residents and leaders are asked to complete a
comprehensive survey. Their input as well as county health
indicators and statistics are compiled into a written report. Stanly
County’s most current Community Health Assessment was written in 2011.
The SOTCH report is a yearly review of the county’s health indicators
and status. The SOTCH Report complements and updates the
information provided in the Community Health Assessment. The State
of North Carolina requires every county to prepare a SOTCH report every
year, except the year the Community Health Assessment is conducted.
